REVEIWS & DEALERS
Lawrence Mittler—he of Mitmat fame—just popped by to drop off his newest creation: the Mitmat Foundation Premium Mat, a substantial isolation platform designed for use under audio components. Cast your mind back to April of this year, when I reviewed the Mitmat Platter, the company’s first product. Six months later, that mat is still on my VPI, which should tell you how much I like it. The Foundation Premium is a well-built product with real value. As with the Mitmat platter mat, I think the Foundation Premium is going to stay in my analog rig for the foreseeable future.

You need a mat. The MITMAT mat.
Pure Analog Performance
The MITMAT lowers background rumble to reveal deep low-end texture. It smooths high-frequency harshness and tightens midrange focus for a transparent soundstage. Uniform damping across the entire surface unlocks every hidden musical detail.

- Canadian Built: Premium materials engineered and manufactured in Canada.
- Stop Static: Rigid PVC never sticks to your vinyl.
- Measured Flatness: 0.05mm tolerance for perfect, stable stylus tracking.
- Total Damping: Microcell tech traps and dissipates mechanical noise.
Engineered Reference Precision
The 3mm MITMAT ends static cling and felt mat dust. Its microcell core cuts resonance by 10dB and platter ringing by 20dB. With 0.05mm consistency, it ensures a perfectly flat, vibration-free tracking surface.
High-Fidelity Isolation Science
The MITMAT replaces decorative stock mats with microcell-rigidized foam to dampen unpleasant mechanical resonances. Using innovative air-bubble technology instead of heavy fibreboard, it isolates the record to reveal hidden instrumentation and ambient detail. Listeners report a dramatic shift in presence, making vinyl recordings sound less like “analog” and more like a real, live performance.
MITMAT : Review by Jamie Gillies
- Holographic Sound: MITFIT discs increase instrument separation for a massive, 3D soundstage.
- Deep Clarity: The Foundation base stabilizes components to deliver cleaner, more powerful audio.
- Digital Edge Removal: Air-bubble tech relaxes digital streams, restoring a warm, natural analog feel.
- Total System Value: The MITKIT bundle offers a cost-effective, all-in-one resonance reduction solution.
The Complete MITKIT Foundation
The MITMAT Foundation and MITFIT footers stabilize finicky equipment, providing a darker, deeper clarity and a more powerful vocal delivery. These components create a holographic, three-dimensional soundstage that significantly expands the reach of both analog and digital systems. By removing the “digital edge” from streamed audio and CDs, the full kit restores warmth and delineation to every listening session.

VINYL ENGINE – Customer Review

Back in 2014 I did a review on a number of turntable mats for my Linn lp12. Over the years I have tried a number of different mats, cork, suede and cork, leather, even the high end Auditorium 23 hommage mat. But up till recently I have stayed with a slighly thicker and heavier felt mat that was put out back then by a UK Linn dealer. While these other mats were good in their own way, most of the time they over deaden the record. While the instruments were clear the 3D effect was gone.
Recently I heard of a new Canadian turntable mat called the Mitmat when comes with a diameter of either 300MM or 295MM. The 295MM is specified for Technics and Linn turntables as they have a lip on the outer edge. The Mitmat platter is 3MM thick and has no label recess for consistency in thickness. The mat uses microcell technology to absorb and dissipate vibrational energy. When I bought it I was expecting a floppy soft mat but this is not the case. The top and bottom of the mat is PVC with a layer of microcell bubbles between. Technology is all fine but how does it work? The first thing I noticed was how flat it was and how well it coupled with the turntable platter. It was like a second skin to the turntable platter. Another good point is that there is no fear this mat will come off when removing the vinyl record. It will stay put.
I tried the mat with two different cartridges, an Ortofon MC3 Turbo which is a high output moving coil cartridge and a Nagaoka MP 500. In both cases I found the mat improved the dimensionality of the records and seemed to allow the music to come from a clearer and darker background. I did not lose any air in the recordings and it allowed the sounds to be integrated holistically. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase and feel it was a great addition to my turntable.
